Review: Belly Art ‘Baby Imprint Kit’

October 7 2014 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

I was recently sent some Belly Art Baby Imprint Kits to review.

Baby Imprint Kits create a lasting impression of your child’s hand or feet using this special impression material. The Belly Art Imprint kit is like no other – it’s not plaster or clay so there is no baking or mixing. It’s so easy to use, baby safe and mess free!

Laser Hair Removal – Road Tested – Part 1

August 31 2014 By melbournemamma 2 Comments

Have you ever considered laser hair removal?

I was talking to a few girlfriends earlier this year, who have been having it done and they were all raving about it. I always thought it seemed expensive and would be really painful, but they all assured me it was neither.

One of my friends recommended Australian Laser & Skin Clinics in Moonee Ponds, so it seemed like fate when they contacted me recently to see if I would be interested in trying any of their treatments.

Without hesitation I chose their laser hair removal and I thought this would be a great way for me to share my experience with you, in case you have been thinking about it or are curious too. …

Winter Boots from Walnut Melbourne

July 27 2014 By melbournemamma 58 Comments

One of things I love about Winter is wearing boots – actually that’s a lie, it’s probably the only thing I love.

Ankle boots or long boots, I don’t care – I love them all.

When the fab team at Walnut Melbourne offered to send some boots to the kids and myself to road test, I didn’t hesitate to say ‘yes’.

The hard part was deciding which ones because there were so many to choose from. …

Hitting the Road with Honda

May 30 2014 By melbournemamma 2 Comments

Thanks to the fabulous folks at Honda Australia, the family and I recently headed off on a road trip in a brand new Honda CRV (SQUEEEEEEEEAL!).

I’m not sure who was more excited – me, for getting to drive a beautiful new car or the kids, who seemed to think that this car was ours to keep.

As soon as hubby got home from work on the Friday, we piled in to the car and headed down to Point Lonsdale for the weekend. …

Daydream(y) blankets from aden + anais

April 21 2014 By melbournemamma 104 Comments

Last year, I reviewed aden + anais Dream Blankets here on the blog.

My kids absolutely loved them and are still using them on an almost daily basis.

Hubby and I thought they were so fabulous, that we have been fighting over them when the kids went to bed.

My only complaint was that they didn’t come in mummy sizes 🙁

Imagine my delight when I received this in the post….

Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConag Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy and… Wow!!!
What. A. Ride. 📚

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. And the twists? I did not see them coming.

Charlotte McConaghy proves once again why Australian authors are absolutely unmatched when it comes to vivid storytelling and emotional punch 🇦🇺📚

It’s beautifully written, deeply moving, and completely unputdownable.
Highly, highly recommend!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“Dominic Salt and his three children are caretakers of Shearwater, a tiny island not far from Antarctica. Home to the world’s largest seed bank, Shearwater was once full of researchers. But with sea levels rising, the Salts are now its final inhabitants, packing up the seeds before they are transported to safer ground.

Despite the wild beauty of life here, isolation has taken its toll on the Salts. Raff, 18 and suffering his first heartbreak, can only find relief at his punching bag; Fen, 17, has started spending her nights on the beach among the seals; 9-year-old Orly, obsessed with botany, fears the loss of his beloved natural world; and Dominic can’t stop turning back towards the past, and the loss that drove the family to Shearwater in the first place.

Then, during the worst storm the island has ever seen, a woman washes up on shore. As the Salts nurse the woman, Rowan, back to life, their suspicion gives way to affection, and they finally begin to feel like a family again. Rowan, long accustomed to protecting her heart, begins to fall for the Salts, too. But Rowan isn’t telling the whole truth about why she set out for Shearwater. And when she discovers the sabotaged radios and a freshly dug grave, she realises Dominic is keeping his own dark secrets.”
