30 Clutter Free Christmas Gifts

December 1 2021 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

30 clutter gift ideas

If I learnt anything from spending most of the past 20 months inside my home #LockdownLife #ThanksRona , it was that my family has too much “stuff” and not just the kids, but us adults too [ok, probably me more than my husband but we’re not here to talk about me, so let’s move on], so when it comes to Christmas this year, I’ve tracked down the best clutter free Christmas gifts for everyone.

The giving of gifts is a part of the Christmas season for many of us and while this can be a lot of fun, it can also be a source of stress, especially if you are the parent of a child (or children) that already has everything or you have limited space in your home. It can also be stressful for adults who may be in the process of decluterring or trying to live a more minimalist lifestyle.

So I’m here to help, with the best clutter-free gift ideas for everyone on your list!

Most of these gifts are from local Melbourne and Victorian-based businesses, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find something similar in your area.

Clutter Free Gifts for Kids

At some point, all parents long for less stuff.  Less stuff to trip on, less stuff to pick-up and less stuff to hide in the cupboards [or under the beds] when unexpected guests arrive.

If you’re ready to put a stop to stuff, here are some of my favourite clutter free gifts for kids:

  1. Junior Chocolatier Classes at the Great Ocean Rd Chocolaterie
  2. Legoland Discovery Centre Annual Pass
  3. Gumbuya World Season Pass or Gift Voucher
  4. Enchanted Adventure Garden & Maze Membership or Gift Voucher
  5. UrbnSurf Surfing Lessons or Swim in the Bays

Clutter Free Gifts for Teens

Most teens want gadgets (or cash) but if you want to get them off the couch and out and about, check out my favourite clutter free gifts for teens:

  1. IMAX Melbourne Gift Voucher
  2. Firefly Zipline Experience over the Yarra River
  3. Indoor Skydiving at iFly
  4. Bounce Freestyle Academy
  5. Stand up paddleboarding lessons or hire at Stand Up Paddle Board HQ

Clutter Free Gifts for Adults

I love gifting friends something that they may not necessarily buy for themselves but something that I know they will enjoy, without adding clutter to the home. Here are some of my favourite clutter free gifts for adults:

  1. Queen Victoria Market Ultimate Foodie Tour
  2. Robert Gordon Wheel Throwing Workshop
  3. Go Boat Picnic on the Yarra
  4. Distillery Gin Masterclass at Four Pillars Gin
  5. Tickets to Australian Open

Clutter Free Gifts for Grandparents

Grandparents are typically at the stage in life where they already have everything they want and need, so here are some clutter free gifts for grandma and grandpa that will fill their hearts [and not their homes]

  1. Gourmet Kitchen Cooking Class
  2. Steam & Cuisine Lunch on the Puffing Billy
  3. Grazing or Dessert box from Taylor Made Gourmet
  4. Elvis: Direct from Graceland Exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery
  5. High Tea at the National Gallery of Victoria

Clutter Free Gifts for Families

After spending so much time at home during the past two years, give a gift that will create fun family memories that will last a lifetime. Here are some of my favourite clutter free gifts for families:

  1. Zoo Victoria membership
  2. Fondue at Home kit from the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie
  3. Museum Victoria membership
  4. Sun Theatre Gift Voucher
  5. Artvo Gift Voucher

Clutter Free Gifts for your Bestie

Treat your bestie (and yourself) to a fun or yummy day out and create some new wonderful memories together. Here are some great gifts ideas for your bestie:

  1. Paint & Sip at Pinot & Picasso
  2. Soy Candle Making Workshop
  3. High Tea at Mary Eats Cake
  4. Deluxe Pedicure at Beauty on Rose
  5. Peninsula Hot Springs Voucher

What clutter free gifts would you love to see under the tree this year?

Top 10 Family Christmas Movies

Top 10 Family Christmas Movies

It’s time to curl up on the couch with the kids and enjoy some wonderful family Christmas movies.

My kids love all of these movies and I sometimes find them watching throughout the year and not just at Christmas time.

I’ve included all the movie classifications and as a guide, the age that I’ve found them appropriate for my kids (Note: all children are different and only you know what is best for your own child). If in doubt I recommend you visit commonsensemedia.org, for further infomation regarding each movie and to see reviews from parents and children who have watched the movies themselves.

  1. Home Alone (Rated PG, Age 8+) – An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation.home alone movie
  2. The Polar Express (Rated G, Age 6+) – On Christmas Eve, a young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas.the-polar-express-movie
  3. Jingle All The Way (Rated PG, Age 7+) – A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out of them, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.jingle-all-the-way-movie
  4. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (PG 13, Age 13+) – The Griswold family’s plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster.national-lampoons-christmas-vacation-movie
  5. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Not rated, Age 3+) – Laughed at because of his nose, Rudolph runs away into the North Pole wilderness, where he meets a gentle polar bear. When his friend Zoey, an attractive young doe, is captured by evil Ice Queen Stormella, Rudolph comes to her rescue and also helps Santa save Christmas.

  6. Elf (Rated PG, Age 7+) – After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the U.S. in search of his true identity.elf movie
  7. The Santa Clause (Rated PG, Age 8+) – When a man inadvertantly kills Santa on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place.
  8. Gremlins (Rated PG, Age 9+) – A boy inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town.Gremlins Movie
  9. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas (Not rated, Age 4+) – Disney’s biggest stars shine in a magical all-new movie – sure to become a holiday classic! Mickey, Minnie, and their famous friends Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto gather together to reminisce about the love, magic and surprises in three wonder-filled stories of Christmas past.
  10.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Rated PG, Age 7+) – On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town.

And it just wouldn’t be a Christmas movie list without me mentioning my own favourites, they’re not really suitable for the kids, so wait until they’ve gone to bed to curl up on the couch or in bed;  Love Actually, The Holiday, Die Hard,  Trading Places and It’s A Wonderful Life.

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Dear Santa Printable Christmas Letter

November 27 2018 By melbournemamma

I made a Dear Santa printable letter for my kids and I’d love to share it with you.

You can download and print a copy of the letter below.

dear santa christmas letter template

As my children get older (8 and 11), I’m finding it harder and harder to come up with great gift ideas and I’m sure Santa struggles too.

They usually end up giving me a long list of random stuff – stuff, that they don’t need or even really want. Stuff that they play with for a short amount of time, sometimes only Christmas Day (don’t you hate that!!!), before it begins to gather dust on a shelf or gets hidden in a cupboard.

In this letter I give them five choices only – something they want, something they need, something they’ll wear and something they’ll read. They can also ask for one special thing that they REALLY want, so that Santa knows which gift they’re hoping for the most. It’s also a great way to steer them away from only asking for toys.

Please feel free to print it for your kids too. Click here to open PDF version for printing.

There’s only four weeks until the big day, so make sure you get the kids to mail their Dear Santa letter to Santa ASAP.

What are your kids asking Santa to bring this year? Share them in the comments below to help other parents (ie me!) come up with some great ideas.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Fallon meets Ben the day before her big move to New York. Their attraction is untimely but undeniable. They spend her last day in Los Angeles together and Fallon’s eventful life becomes the inspiration Ben has sought for the novel he’s always wanted to write.

Over time and amidst the relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, Ben and Fallon continue to meet on the same date every year. Until, one day, Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon – and, at the same time, with his novel – be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?”

I finally see what all the fuss is about - this bo I finally see what all the fuss is about - this book is brilliant!!!

If you haven't already read ‘Verity’ - add it to your list NOW.

This book sure was ‘unputdownable’ and I was so blown away by the ending that I had to go back and read the last chapter again, just to make sure that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me [I’m still in a post flu fog 🤯]

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already-grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue loving her . . .”

Did you know about this eco friendly way to get ri Did you know about this eco friendly way to get rid of packing peanuts (those little white foam like things that come in your deliveries)? 💚📦

One of the downsides to doing lots of online shopping is the amount of packing materials/waste that I’m left with once my parcel has been opened 🙁

Since finding out that most packing peanuts are made of water-soluble starch, I use this handy trick to dispose of them in a safe and easy manner.

As for bubble wrap 🙄 - I always collect that and then give it away on a local Buy Swap Sell page, so that it can be reused by someone else ♻️

Influenza A 🤒 I do NOT recommend it! 0/5 ⭐ Influenza A 🤒

I do NOT recommend it! 0/5 ⭐

So, I've been in bed since last Sunday and finally got confirmation from the Dr that I have the flu 😫

What a 🤬 nightmare of a week it has been.

My son and I both woke up feeling like 💩 on Mother’s Day and it was all downhill from there.

Thankfully, he only had a sore throat and a cough (negative for COVID) and was well enough to return to school on Thursday.

I, on the other hand, have been barely able to get out of bed all week and have a continuous cough, chills, sore chest, shortness of breath, racing heartbeat, aches and pains - even my eyeballs hurt 👀🤷🏻‍♀️

I have not been this sick for a very long time.

Still not sure how I've avoided getting COVID for two years but as soon as the flu is about - WHAM!!! I've got it 💥

Considering that I still wear a mask at the shops and hadn’t really gone out much in the week prior, I assume my son picked it up at school 🦠

As soon as I'm well enough l’ll be getting my flu 💉

Anyone else feel like this is going to be a looooooong Winter? 😷🤧😬
