Thank you Biggest Morning Tea Supporters

May 25 2016 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

I’m so excited to be joining forces with Kate from Meetoo to host a fundraiser high tea this Friday as part of the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The event would not be possible without the support of some FABULOUS local businesses who have donated amazing prizes for us to raffle on the day!

At the high tea, set in the delightful Brunswick Tea Room, we will be running a raffle – we hope all our guests will buy loads of tickets as 100% of the money raised in the raffle will go directly to the Cancer Council.

Fujinella – Alexander Grey Marle top, valued at $60.00

The Brunswick Tea Room – High Tea for two voucher plus a special blend of tea, valued at $94.00

Per the age old tradition, a high tea experience is designed to be a selection of savoury and sweet treats to be enjoyed between breakfast and dinner.

The high tea includes beautifully arranged platters of gourmet savoury items (ribbon sandwiches, fresh quiches, skewers, savoury crepes), decadent sweet petit fours (hazelnut & cranberry meringues, vanilla teacake, pistachio & raspberry treats), scones (served with cream and jam) and fresh seasonal fruit accompanied by a varied selection of house blended artisan teas ongoing throughout the event.  (Vegan and gluten free can be catered for.)

Ticket are $45 and a percentage of the ticket cost will be donated to the Cancer Council.  Melbourne Mamma and Meetoo (Kate and myself) are giving our time to organise and run this event as a way we can actively support the amazing work of the Cancer Council – we hope you will join our Biggest Morning Tea event!

We’ve still got a couple of tickets left if you would like to join us. Book now!

Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConag Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy and… Wow!!!
What. A. Ride. 📚

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. And the twists? I did not see them coming.

Charlotte McConaghy proves once again why Australian authors are absolutely unmatched when it comes to vivid storytelling and emotional punch 🇦🇺📚

It’s beautifully written, deeply moving, and completely unputdownable.
Highly, highly recommend!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“Dominic Salt and his three children are caretakers of Shearwater, a tiny island not far from Antarctica. Home to the world’s largest seed bank, Shearwater was once full of researchers. But with sea levels rising, the Salts are now its final inhabitants, packing up the seeds before they are transported to safer ground.

Despite the wild beauty of life here, isolation has taken its toll on the Salts. Raff, 18 and suffering his first heartbreak, can only find relief at his punching bag; Fen, 17, has started spending her nights on the beach among the seals; 9-year-old Orly, obsessed with botany, fears the loss of his beloved natural world; and Dominic can’t stop turning back towards the past, and the loss that drove the family to Shearwater in the first place.

Then, during the worst storm the island has ever seen, a woman washes up on shore. As the Salts nurse the woman, Rowan, back to life, their suspicion gives way to affection, and they finally begin to feel like a family again. Rowan, long accustomed to protecting her heart, begins to fall for the Salts, too. But Rowan isn’t telling the whole truth about why she set out for Shearwater. And when she discovers the sabotaged radios and a freshly dug grave, she realises Dominic is keeping his own dark secrets.”
