January 18 2020 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

These Crossbody Bags Are Stylish, Affordable and Perfect For Everyday

If you’re looking for a new bag that you can wear everywhere this year, you can’t go wrong with a crossbody bag.

As someone who usually carries around a bag that is big enough to fit the kitchen sink (or so my husband thinks), I’ve fallen in love with the style and practicality of carrying a bag that ONLY fits the essentials (purse, phone, keys, lip gloss(es)) AND looks good.

I’ve scoured the internet and uncovered the my Top 10 crossbody bags for the year.

Good luck on choosing just one!

Stevie Boxy Cross Body Bag $19.99, Amara Pinch Lock Bag $99.95, Croc Front Slim Cross Body Bag $39.95, Accordion Mini Shoulder Bag $59.95, Mini Tassel Crossbody Bag $9, Eden Wide Strap Cross Body Bag $19.95 (on sale), Kylie Camera Bag $99.95, Marta Quilted Crossbody Bag $29.95, Blocked Chain Crossbody Bag $9, Mustard Cross Body Box $99

50 Things To Get Rid Of Right Now

September 23 2019 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

Are you tired of clutter and mess in your home?

I’ve put together a list of 50 things that you can throw away, donate or recycle right now.

I promise that once you’ve made your way through this list, your life and your home should be a lot less cluttered.

  1. Alarm clock – isn’t your mobile phone next to the bed?
  2. Lanyards, bags and name tags from conferences you’ve attended.
  3. Take away menus – the menu is exactly the same online. We promise.
  4. Recipe books you rarely use – one word: Pinterest!
  5. CDs that came with computer programs you’re no longer using.
  6. Travel brochures from trips you’ve already been on.
  7. Gorgeous but uncomfortable shoes that you never wear because they give you blisters.
  8. Belts that don’t fit.
  9. Hairdryer attachments that never get used.
  10. Wedding, baptism or special occasion favors.
  11. Makeup samples that you only like because they were free.
  12. DVDs you don’t watch.
  13. Scarves you never wear.
  14. Old bridesmaid dresses – have you worn it since the wedding???
  15. Travel mugs that leak.
  16. Clothes that are WAY too small – one size down is OK, but anything more? Just buy new clothes to celebrate!
  17. Cards you’ve received that have no sentimental value.
  18. Too many baking dishes – how many can you really fit in your oven at the same time?
  19. Old mobile phones – trade it in, donate it or recycle it.
  20. Backpacks or large bags that don’t get used enough – and no, don’t use these as storage solutions.
  21. Bags from a store – keep one or two – maybe.
  22. Extra bubble wrap – it takes up WAY too much room!
  23. Scratched sunglasses.
  24. Maternity bras that you are NEVER ever wearing again.
  25. Gifts you don’t really like.
  26. Books you don’t enjoy or plan on reading again.
  27. Old mobile phone covers.
  28. Extra buttons in little plastic bags from every. clothing.item.ever.purchased. Odds are you don’t even have the shirt the buttons came with!
  29. Fitted sheets that have lost their elastic.
  30. Worn out or scuffed shoes.
  31. Old ratty towels – turn them in to rags or get rid of them!
  32. Instructions books for items you no longer own.
  33. Old pillows.
  34. Tupperware containers missing their lid – I promise you’re never going to find the lid. Ever.
  35. Chopsticks – unless you really REALLY use them.
  36. Past wedding, baptism and birthday invites.
  37. Too many sets of bed linens – allow three per bed maximum.
  38. Stockings with runs – no amount of clear nail polish will take away the run.
  39. Tiny screws and nails from furniture you don’t even have anymore.
  40. Hangers from the drycleaners.
  41. Paper bills you don’t need to keep – who wants to be reminded of how much money they’ve spent?
  42. Too many hats and gloves – only keep a couple pairs that go with ALL your winter coats.
  43. Stained clothing you can’t get cleaned.
  44. Magazines you’ve already read.
  45. Dishes that don’t stack easily and/or takes up too much room.
  46. Cooking utensils you have two of – have you ever used two of the same utensil at the same time?
  47. Craft supplies for projects that you never actually started (or completed).
  48. Touristy knick-knacks that seemed like a good idea to purchase while on holidays.
  49. Mugs, cups or plates that are chipped.
  50. Emergency sewing kits – how many ‘sewing emergencies’ can one person have?

July 28 2016 By melbournemamma Leave a Comment

In collaboration with MiniJumbuk

Are you struggling to get a good night’s sleep? Here are my Top 5 tips for sleeping through the night.

1. Choosing the right mattress

Considering you spend a significant amount of time in bed, it’s really important that you have a great mattress. AND another plot twist that I didn’t see coming 😳

Tissues required 😭

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Fallon meets Ben the day before her big move to New York. Their attraction is untimely but undeniable. They spend her last day in Los Angeles together and Fallon’s eventful life becomes the inspiration Ben has sought for the novel he’s always wanted to write.

Over time and amidst the relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, Ben and Fallon continue to meet on the same date every year. Until, one day, Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon – and, at the same time, with his novel – be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?”

I finally see what all the fuss is about - this bo I finally see what all the fuss is about - this book is brilliant!!!

If you haven't already read ‘Verity’ - add it to your list NOW.

This book sure was ‘unputdownable’ and I was so blown away by the ending that I had to go back and read the last chapter again, just to make sure that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me [I’m still in a post flu fog 🤯]

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already-grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue loving her . . .”

Did you know about this eco friendly way to get ri Did you know about this eco friendly way to get rid of packing peanuts (those little white foam like things that come in your deliveries)? 💚📦

One of the downsides to doing lots of online shopping is the amount of packing materials/waste that I’m left with once my parcel has been opened 🙁

Since finding out that most packing peanuts are made of water-soluble starch, I use this handy trick to dispose of them in a safe and easy manner.

As for bubble wrap 🙄 - I always collect that and then give it away on a local Buy Swap Sell page, so that it can be reused by someone else ♻️

Influenza A 🤒 I do NOT recommend it! 0/5 ⭐ Influenza A 🤒

I do NOT recommend it! 0/5 ⭐

So, I've been in bed since last Sunday and finally got confirmation from the Dr that I have the flu 😫

What a 🤬 nightmare of a week it has been.

My son and I both woke up feeling like 💩 on Mother’s Day and it was all downhill from there.

Thankfully, he only had a sore throat and a cough (negative for COVID) and was well enough to return to school on Thursday.

I, on the other hand, have been barely able to get out of bed all week and have a continuous cough, chills, sore chest, shortness of breath, racing heartbeat, aches and pains - even my eyeballs hurt 👀🤷🏻‍♀️

I have not been this sick for a very long time.

Still not sure how I've avoided getting COVID for two years but as soon as the flu is about - WHAM!!! I've got it 💥

Considering that I still wear a mask at the shops and hadn’t really gone out much in the week prior, I assume my son picked it up at school 🦠

As soon as I'm well enough l’ll be getting my flu 💉

Anyone else feel like this is going to be a looooooong Winter? 😷🤧😬
