I don’t know about you, but I feel like these school holidays have just flown by.

It just feels like a few weeks ago that my daughter finished her last day of Prep and began her transition to Grade 1!

It suddenly dawned on me last week that I need to get organised with ‘Back to School‘ goodies. So, when Meyu invited me to come along and check out their range of school shoes, I couldn’t resist.

Today we’re getting to know Alli from Motivating Mum.

MM

1. Tell us a little about yourself?

My name’s Alli and I have two gorgeous, spirited little minxies who I am either cuddling or tearing my hair out over! My business is all about networking and this spills over to life – I love, love having loads of friends and seeing them often. Going out dancing at least four times a year is a must! BC (before children) I travelled the world and have been to many, many countries and plan to do so again one day. I have no hobbies – running my business, seeing my friends and looking after the family pretty much takes up all my time.

2. Describe Motivating Mum in one sentence?

Motivating Mums offers support and advice to mums in business, or those wanting to be, in Oz and the UK. …

There’s no hiding it – I am hopeless at saving money!

I think it’s part of being a shopaholic – I save a little, I spend alot.

When I set myself a long-term saving goal, something else ALWAYS comes along that I NEED the money for.

So, this year I am setting myself a challenge!

I am going to save almost $1,400 this year with a simple 52-week money saving plan. …

Happy New Year everyone!

I can’t believe 2014 is already here. I feel like 2013 came and went in a flash.

One day I was wiping away the tears as my daughter started her first day at school and the next I was wiping away her tears (& some of my own) as she said goodbye to her prep teacher and began her transition for Grade 1 this year.

There’s lots of exciting things planned for Melbourne Mamma this year, including some changes here on the blog and two more FANTASTIC Melbourne Mamma’s Markets. The first is on Sunday, 2 March in East Malvern and I can’t wait to share the details with you.

Thanks to everyone who supported Melbourne Mamma during 2013 and an extra thank you to everyone who has been supporting my “Shop Local” campaign. Stay tuned for some more initiatives during the year.

Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConag Just finished Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy and… Wow!!!
What. A. Ride. 📚

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. And the twists? I did not see them coming.

Charlotte McConaghy proves once again why Australian authors are absolutely unmatched when it comes to vivid storytelling and emotional punch 🇦🇺📚

It’s beautifully written, deeply moving, and completely unputdownable.
Highly, highly recommend!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Have you read it yet? Let’s chat 👇

“Dominic Salt and his three children are caretakers of Shearwater, a tiny island not far from Antarctica. Home to the world’s largest seed bank, Shearwater was once full of researchers. But with sea levels rising, the Salts are now its final inhabitants, packing up the seeds before they are transported to safer ground.

Despite the wild beauty of life here, isolation has taken its toll on the Salts. Raff, 18 and suffering his first heartbreak, can only find relief at his punching bag; Fen, 17, has started spending her nights on the beach among the seals; 9-year-old Orly, obsessed with botany, fears the loss of his beloved natural world; and Dominic can’t stop turning back towards the past, and the loss that drove the family to Shearwater in the first place.

Then, during the worst storm the island has ever seen, a woman washes up on shore. As the Salts nurse the woman, Rowan, back to life, their suspicion gives way to affection, and they finally begin to feel like a family again. Rowan, long accustomed to protecting her heart, begins to fall for the Salts, too. But Rowan isn’t telling the whole truth about why she set out for Shearwater. And when she discovers the sabotaged radios and a freshly dug grave, she realises Dominic is keeping his own dark secrets.”
