VTech InnoTab 2 Giveaway

December 13 2012 By melbournemamma 96 Comments

One of the hottest toys hitting the shelves this Christmas is the Vtech InnoTab2.

The VTech InnoTab2 is an interactive, multi-media educational tablet for children aged 4-9.

The all new InnoTab 2 is designed specifically for little hands and the fun interactive games help them develop essential skills like reading, spelling, maths and logic.

It features:

  • – 5″ colour touch screen
  • – rotating multi-way camera with video recording functionality
  • – music player
  • – video viewer
  • – ebook reader
  • – in-built microphone & speaker, and
  • – a headphone jack

All this and more is housed in a sleek, kid-tough and compact design for easy portability.  It also includes a handy in-built, fold-out stand for easier viewing of movies or for use as a digital photo frame!

Downloading games is as easy as connecting the InnoTab via USB to your pc or laptop and saving them onto the 2GB onboard memory. If you run out of space, there is an SD slot for extra memory.

With the InnoTab2, kids will have so much fun they won’t even realise they’re learning! (and you might even get your phone back 🙂 )

The InnoTab retails for $179.95 and comes in pink and blue. It is available from Toys R Us, Big W, Target and David Jones.

For more information visit www.vtechkids.com.au

I recently attended the launch of the InnoTab 2 and was really impressed with the features and functionality of this toy.

With a 5 yr old & 2 yr old who are always jumping on my phone to play games, I love the idea that they can play on the InnoTab and I don’t have to worry about them accessing inappropriate material from the internet or running up a huge bill by downloading games and accessories on my phone.

With one of these toys, I can relax and not have to look over their shoulders every 5 seconds to make sure that they’re not getting into something they shouldn’t be.

Martine Oglethorpe from The Modern Parent spoke at the launch and really opened my eyes to some of the online dangers young children are exposed on a daily basis. “As increased internet use becomes more socially acceptable and our children become more tech-savvy, a new set of challenges arise that parents have never had to face before”.

Whilst at the launch I received one InnoTab 2 for my kids and one extra to giveaway to one of my lovely readers.

Therefore, if you would like the chance to win a VTech InnoTab 2 for your kids this Christmas, make sure you enter the giveaway below.

Look what’s now at Target

December 2 2012 By melbournemamma 101 Comments

I recently had the pleasure of attending a bloggers event and checking out the latest products to hit the shelves at Target – designer fragrances.

I love perfume and am always on the lookout for a new scent to add to my collection. Very rarely do I have the time to pop in to a shop to specifically try out new fragrances, so I was super excited to find out that Target will have trained staff available, to help me out next time I’m in store doing my shopping.

I was even more excited to find out they’ll be stocking all the top fragrances at up to 40% off RRP.

When shopping for perfume, did you know there are four fragrance families – Floral, Oriental, Woody and Fresh?

I always have trouble deciding on which new fragrance to buy for myself let alone anyone else, but now there’s an easy way to remember.

When thinking about which fragrance family would suit a particular person, just think about the gorgeous girls from ‘Sex and the City’.

Based on their personality types, Charlotte is floral, Carrie is fresh, Samantha is woody and Miranda is oriental.

WARNING: If using this measure, just make sure you don’t offend someone by getting them a woody (Samantha) scent, when they see themselves as more of a floral (Charlotte) – awkward!

I decided to test this theory by finding out which family my three favourite fragrances belong too. Suddenly I’m feeling very nervous :O

Chloe by Chloe (Floral – Charlotte), Daisy – Marc Jacobs (Floral – Charlotte), Princess by Vera Wang (Floral Oriental – Charlotte/Miranda)

And here I was thinking I was more of a super cool Carrie 😉

If you would like to learn more about the fragrance families, check out Michael Edwards’ fragrance wheel and see which ‘Sex and the City’ girl you are.

If you would like to see the latest fragrance collection at Target, make sure you pop into a store or visit them online at www.target.com.au

Thanks to Target Australia, I have a $40 Target gift card for one lucky reader to win. To enter the giveaway pop over to Target’s online store, have a look at their fragrance collection and then leave a comment below telling me which fragrance is your favourite.

Note for the winner: PLEASE use the voucher to buy something for YOURSELF!!! Your kids will be getting enough gifts for Christmas, so use the voucher to buy yourself something nice (eg perfume).

I went into this book knowing very little about th I went into this book knowing very little about the Vietnam War, and it was a real eye-opener.

Kristin Hannah has an incredible gift for bringing history to life, and The Women is no exception. This emotional and powerful story follows the experiences of women who served during the war - stories that are often overlooked - and it left a lasting impact on me. I love historical fiction, and Kristin is truly a master storyteller.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Women can be heroes, too’. When twenty-year-old nursing student, Frances “Frankie” McGrath, hears these unexpected words, it is a revelation. Raised on California’s idyllic Coronado Island and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing, being a good girl. But in 1965 the world is changing, and she suddenly imagines a different path for her life. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she impulsively joins the Army Nurses Corps and follows his path.

As green and inexperienced as the young men sent to Vietnam to fight, Frankie is overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction of war, as well as the unexpected trauma of coming home to a changed America. Frankie will also discover the true value of female friendship and the heartbreak that love can cause.”

Have you read this or any of Kristin’s other books?
